Erdogan is acting strategically to increase influence in China & Russia. Erdogan saying that grain exports transiting the Black Sea need to be protected is deeper than you might think. Russia is transporting grain stolen from Ukraine and Ukraine is targeting Russia's "Shadow Fleet" of ships in the Black Sea. So, there are implications re: Tukiye's relations with Ukraine, one of its sizable defense material customers.
