I have called the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement the (eventual) refounding of the Ottoman Empire. As the article says, "the pact could be a sign of the formation of a new security arrangement in the region." I predict that (at least) seven more Islamic nations will join in this pact. I suspect Egypt will be first.
